Janhavi and Shivradnyi win Air Pistol gold medals

Pune: Janhavi Deshmukh of Vardhaman English Medium School, Hadapsar, and Shivradnyi Shirole of Symbiosis School, Prabhat Road, won gold medals in Air Pistol events in the girls’ Under-16 and Under-14 categories in the shooting events at the Mapro presents Sakal Schoolympics at the Pune District Rifle Association Range in Fatimanagar, here on Sunday.

Janhavi scored a series of 95, 91, 87, 94 for a total of 367 that landed her the gold medal by some distance as Pranaya Pawar of City International School, Wanowrie scored 351. In the Under-14 category, Shivradnyi scored a series of 76, 90, 84, 92 to log a total of 342 leaving Nishka Bothara of Delhi Public School, Kondhwa (316) way behind.

Two Perfect 100s 
The highlight of the day was perfect 100s scored by Samiksha Kawade of St Helena’s School, Camp and Mansi Pansare of Spicer Higher Secondary School, Aundh, in the girls’ Under-16 peep-sight rifle event.
Samiksha was the best of the lot as she scored two 99s, one 100 and a 98 to log a total of 398 to win the peep-sight rifle gold medal ahead of Mansi.

Open-sight Rifle: 1. Charul Patil (Renuka Swarup High School, Sadashiv Peth) (81, 80, 77, 80) 318; 2. Tanishka Baravkar (MES Rani Laxmibai Mulinchi Sainiki Shala, Pirangut) (75, 72, 74, 69) 290; 3. Antara Kedari (MES Rani Laxmibai Mulinchi Sainiki Shala, Pirangut) (62, 74, 69, 75) 280.

Under-14:
Air Pistol: 1. Shivradnyi Shirole (Symbiosis School, Prabhat Road) (76, 90, 84, 92) 342; 2. Nishka Bothara (Delhi Public School, Kondhwa) (76, 83, 74, 83) 316; 3. Arya Kalambe (Dr Kalmadi Shamrao High School, Erandwane) (66, 79, 75, 78) 298.
