Kirtane conquers ITF title in Kolkata

Pune: Nitten Kirtane defeated Riyaz Ahmed 6-1, 6-2 to clinch the trophy at ITF Calcutta South Club Senior Tennis Championship (Grade 4) event in Kolkata.

With this win, Nitten added 60 ITF points to his kitty along with a cash reward of Rs 10,000.

In the semi-final, Nitten outplayed  fourth seeded Narendra Choudhary 6-0, 6-2 while in the quarter-final Nitten hardly broke a sweat to oust Swarandeep Singh Dhodi 6-1, 6-2. Earlier, the pre-quarterfinal match was a one sided affair as seasoned campaigner Nitten defeated Saurav Chakravarthy 6-1, 6-0.

The event was organised by Bengal Tennis Association from July 2 to 7.

Results:

Final: bt 6-Riyaz Ahmed 6-1, 6-2.
Semifinals: bt 4-Narendra Choudhary 6-0, 6-2.
Quarter-finals: bt Swarandeep Singh Dhodi 6-1, 6-2.
Pre-quarters: bt Saurav Chakravarthy 6-1, 6-0.
