

Pune: Come next week, Mahesh Hatkar and Upendra Kulkarni would be seen inculcating some serious cricket skills in youngsters in Pune. The duo, afterall will play a key role in a summer camp organised by the Gary Kirsten Cricket Academy, known as Gary Kirsten Cricket India.
Apart from Ryan Van Niekerk, the chief coach—Hatkar and Kulkarni are vital cogs in the Academy, and will spend their time in the middle honing skills of budding cricketers at the state-of-art facility at Divisional Sports Complex in Yerawada.
Hatkar, who holds vast experience in coaching, is a Level 2 ECB coaching badge holder. He has also worked with Jonty Rhodes’ cricket clinic in Mumbai for 2 years.
Kulkarni, who has been a coach at Deccan Gymkhana for almost 14 years too is a certified Level 2 coach.
Details of the coaching camps were shared by Anand Mittal, CEO of Gary Kirsten Cricket India, and Ryan Van Niekerk, the chief coach.
Mittal said, “There are many talented players in Pune and around. Gary Kirsten Cricket India proposes to train and create cricket players of a similar caliber.”
“The venue for the coaching camps is equipped to train 1000 cricket players at the same time,” he added.
