MCA Combined District makes it to semifinals by virtue of first innings lead

PUNE: All-rounder Anupam Sanklecha got himself into groove scoring runs and taking wickets ahead of the Ranji Trophy season as his effort helped MCA Combined District team to make it to the semifinals by virtue of their first innings lead over MCA Combined Club team in the PYC Challenger Trophy 3-Day Invitational Cricket tournament at MCA Cricket Ground in Gahunje on Monday.

Billed as a selection tournament for Maharashtra Ranji Trophy team, Sanklecha scored unbeaten 73 off 59 balls in the first innings and then took five wickets for 30 runs before returning to bat in the second innings and score 35. MCA Combined District’s 177-run first innings lead over the MCA Combined Club team was the key point in this three-day match played over two innings.
