The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced its Player of the Month award winners for August 2025, with Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj and Irish all-rounder Orla Prendergast taking the top honors. Siraj was recognized for his phenomenal performance in the final Test of India's 2025 tour of England, while Prendergast was celebrated for her standout all-round contributions for Ireland.
Siraj's award is a direct result of his match-winning spell at The Oval, which helped India secure a thrilling six-run victory and level the Anderson–Tendulkar Trophy series 2-2. His consistent pace, accuracy, and movement troubled England's top batting lineup, and he finished with impressive figures of nine wickets for 190 runs across both innings. His second-innings haul of five wickets was instrumental, including the crucial dismissals of Jamie Smith, Jamie Overton, and Gus Atkinson.
Speaking about the honor, Siraj was quoted by the ICC as saying, "It is a special honour to be named ICC Player of the Month. The Anderson–Tendulkar Trophy was a memorable series, and it was one of the most intense contests I have been part of." He credited his teammates and support staff, adding, "This award belongs as much to my teammates and the support staff as it does to me, because their constant encouragement and belief kept me going."
In the women's category, Orla Prendergast emerged victorious over competitors from Pakistan and the Netherlands. The talented Irish all-rounder earned Player of the Series honors in a home T20I series against Pakistan, leading her team to a 2-1 victory. She accumulated 144 runs and took four wickets in that series, and continued her stellar form by scoring 244 runs and claiming seven wickets during the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier in August.
