MS Dhoni thanks Prime Minister Narendra Modi for letter of appreciation

The former India skipper MS Dhoni who retired from international cricket recently, took to Twitter to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a heartfelt letter that he had written to him. Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Mahendra Singh Dhoni on his memorable international cricket career, calling the two-time World Cup-winning former India skipper as the personification of a “new India where family name does not make one’s destiny”. In a note Mahi, PM Modi also called Dhoni as one of the greatest skippers and one of the best wicketkeepers the game has seen.

Dhoni shared the letter on his Twitter page, his first social media post on the platform since his retirement, and thanked the Prime Minister for his appreciation. Dhoni tweeted, “An Artist, Soldier and Sportsperson what they crave for is appreciation, that their hard work and sacrifice is getting noticed and appreciated by everyone.thanks PM @narendramodi for your appreciation and good wishes.”

In the letter, PM Modi remembered some of the greatest moments of Dhoni's career while emphasising the 2011 50-over World Cup final.  He also praised the former captain for handling tough situations and thanked the wicketkeeper-batsman for making the country proud. PM Modi also highlighted the sacrifice that his wife and kid made and extended his good wishes to them.
