South Africa pacer Dale Steyn on Wednesday apologised for his comments, in which he said Pakistan Premier League (PSL) and other T20 leagues are more rewarding than IPL.
The speedster explained that his words were never intended to degrade, insult any league.
"IPL has been nothing short of amazing in my career, as well as other players too. My words were never intended to be degrading, insulting, or comparing any leagues. Social media and words out of context can often do that. My apologies if this has upset anyone. Much love," Steyn tweeted
Steyn had mentioned that there is too much emphasis on money in IPL that cricket gets forgotten and this was one of the reason why he had not featured regularly in the event.
"I think when you go to the IPL, there are such big squads and so many big names and so much emphasis on maybe the amount of money players earn and everything like that, so sometimes, somewhere down the line, cricket gets forgotten," Steyn, who was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad in the last IPL held in the UAE, had stated.

In January, RCB released him ahead of the auction after he decided to opt-out of IPL 2021.
Dale Steyn is representing the Quetta Gladiators in PSL. He was part of Royal Challenger Bangalore in IPL 2020 and picked up just one wicket in three matches at a strike-rate of 11.40.
