Pramod Bhagat returned to the international circuit, clinching the men’s singles SL3 gold medal at the China Para Badminton International 2025. This victory marks his first competitive gold medal in 18 months after missing the Paris Paralympics due to three whereabouts failures. His performance was part of a remarkable medal haul for India, which also saw Sukant Kadam and Krishna Nagar secure silver medals.
In his men's singles final, Bhagat faced Indonesia’s Muh Al Imran. After losing the first game 15-2, Bhagat staged a comeback as he fought back to win the next two games 21-19 and 21-16, sealing the top prize in a thrilling three-game contest. The win after an elongated period outside of the sports, should give him some affirmation as to his status as one of the best in the sport.
Bhagat's medal haul in China didn’t stop there. He also teamed up with Sukant Kadam in the men’s doubles, reaching an all-Indian final. In a gripping match against compatriots Jagadesh Dilli and Naveen Sivakumar, the duo narrowly fell short, with the final score reading 18-21, 22-20, 18-21. Bhagat and Kadam's performance secured a well-earned silver medal.
Elsewhere in the tournament, World No. 1 Sukant Kadam delivered a strong showing in the men’s singles SL4 category. He battled through a tough draw to reach the final, where he went down to France’s Lucas Mazur 9-21, 8-21, settling for a silver medal. Similarly, Tokyo 2020 Paralympic champion Krishna Nagar added to India's success with a silver in the men’s singles SH6 event. He took on Thailand’s Natthapong Meechai in a close three-setter, winning the first game 22-20 before Meechai rallied to take the final two games 21-7, 21-17
