Family members of BCCI President Sourav Ganguly test positive for the coronavirus infection. The wife of Snehasish, the elder brother of BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, was found to be positive for the novel coronavirus. Family members of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) Secretary Snehashish Gangly tested positive for COVID-19, the state health department said on Friday.
Snehashish’s mother-in-law and father-in-law both have found tested positive for the COVID-19 last week.
Besides, a domestic help at Snehasish's home in Mominpur, West Bengal where he was living recently also detected the contagion.
The entire members in the house are currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital and are reported as stabled. However, Snehashish, the former Ranji cricketer has tested negative and was asked for home isolation.
A senior official was quoted by Indian Express as saying, “All the four complained of some health issues, which were similar to the symptoms of Covid-19 when they were staying at another residence and not at Ganguly’s ancestral house in Behala. After testing positive, all the four were shifted to a private nursing home.”
According to the sources, they will be tested again on Saturday and further decisions on their treatment will be taken. They said, "Whether they will be discharged or not, depends on the result of the tests.”
BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has been noble work for the needy during the testing times of the pandemic. The former Indian captain has donated rice worth Rs 50 lakh for the underprivileged. Also, he gave away 2,000 kgs of rice at the Belur Math, the headquarters of the Ramkrishna Mission, West Bengal.
Meanwhile, West Bengal, so far, has 12,735 COVID-19 cases. Out of them, the total number of cases recovered now is 7,001 with 518 fatalities reported. However, the government led by Mamata Banerjee has received criticism for low testing and unreported deaths.
