Warriors fight back to score Super Over win over Typhoons

PUNE: Aarav Vij’s six-ball 18 with 1 four and 2 sixes propelled Warriors to 3-run Super Over win that made Group B equations interesting in the Poona Club Premier League Cricket tournament at the Poona Club cricket ground here.

Forced to decide the outcome of the match in Super Over, Warriors posted 19 without loss in the one over they got thanks to Aarav Vij, who faced all the balls and scored 18 runs at an amazing strike rate of 300.

Typhoons made their task difficult when they bowled one wide ball that added to the Warriors’ total.

Batting second, Warriors were propped up by Ashwin Shan and Tariq Parwani, who both scored 6 runs each but failed to match Vij’s strokeplay and ended three runs short.

Earlier, Tyophoons had scored 56 for 3 in their allotted 6 overs with Parwani hitting 20 and Rajit Pardeshi scoring 26. Warriors matched their challengers run for the run as opener Jaideep Patwardhan  scored 6-ball 15 before Kapil Punjabi (18 not out) and Rahil Mirchandani (20 not out) made sure they lived on for the final hurrah.
