After the latest MacBook Neo launch, popular Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has reported that Apple is planning to add a touchscreen to the second-generation MacBook Neo, expected to arrive in 2027. The Neo, one of Apple’s most affordable laptops, was recently launched to compete with Windows laptops and Chromebooks in the budget segment.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has suggested that the 2027 MacBook Neo may come with a touchscreen, following Apple’s first touch-enabled MacBook Pro expected in 2026 with an OLED display. The second-generation Neo is also rumored to feature the A19 chip and 12GB of RAM.
With many competitors like HP, Lenovo, Acer, and ASUS already offering touchscreens in the same price range, adding touch functionality could help Apple remain competitive in the budget and education laptop markets. Apple may also expand the “Neo” branding to other affordable devices, including a possible Apple Watch Neo.
The Apple MacBook Neo, the company’s most budget-friendly laptop to date, is priced at Rs 69,900 in India. It is powered by the A18 Pro chipset, the same as in the iPhone 16 Pro, and features a 13-inch Liquid Retina display.
Weighing 1.23 kg, the laptop has a vibrant rounded aluminum design, a Magic Keyboard, mechanical trackpad, dual USB-C ports, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 6, a 1080p FaceTime camera, and Spatial Audio speakers. Running macOS Tahoe, it offers Apple Intelligence features and supports iPhone Mirroring, while promising up to 16 hours of battery life.
