AI is advancing rapidly, and in a new milestone, users can now animate still images, a highly anticipated feature made possible by AI. Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence firm, xAI, has upgraded its Grok AI model, introducing a new tool that lets users transform any still image into a short video in just a few simple steps.
On Sunday, November 9, Musk shared a post on X demonstrating how to bring any imagination to life by transforming a photo into a video. The post included an AI-generated clip created from a still image of a girl, using the prompt: “She smiles and says, ‘I will always love you.’”
Following the announcement, numerous users flocked to X to try out the new feature, sharing their own AI-generated videos created from still images.
The latest AI features are said to be driven by Grok Imagine, a new tool for creating photos and videos from xAI. Furthermore, the Grok AI chatbot is incorporated into Musk's social media platform X, allowing users to engage with these tools and share AI-generated content directly on the platform.
How Grok’s Image-to-Video Feature Works
Upload an Image – Open Grok and select any image you want to animate.
Activate Animation – Press and hold the image to trigger Grok’s image-to-video engine.
Add a Prompt (Optional) – Customize the animation by entering a creative prompt. For example, Musk used: “Add a boyfriend and they transition into muppets.”
Watch the Transformation – Grok’s generative AI interprets your prompt and animates the image into a short video clip.
Save or Share – Preview, save, or share your animated video directly from the app.
xAI recently revealed that Grok 4 will be available at no cost to users globally. Nonetheless, those on the free tier are restricted to a certain number of prompts and queries each day. In contrast, subscribers to xAI's Premium or Premium+ plans benefit from quicker response times, longer context capabilities, and the enhanced 'SuperGrok' mode.
