Instagram has come up with yet another feature and this time, it’s set to brighten up your festive season. The platform is rolling out Diwali-themed effects as part of its AI-powered ‘Restyle’ feature, allowing users in India and globally to give their photos and videos a traditional, vibrant twist. Powered by Meta AI, the limited-time filter collection brings the festive spirit of Diwali to life, helping users blend cultural flair into their stories and reels.
The Restyle feature is accessible both in the Instagram Stories platform and the separate Edits application. This enables a creative makeover of your visual content. In honor of Diwali, the effects are inspired by the vibrant colors, symbols, and happiness associated with the festival.
Open Instagram Stories and select or capture a photo or video.
Tap the Restyle icon (paintbrush symbol) at the top of the screen.
This opens the effects browser with available themes.
Look for the special Diwali-themed options.
For static images, you can choose from three styles: Fireworks, Diyas, Rangoli, Each adds a festive, artistic overlay to your photo.
Once applied, post to your Story or save it to share later.
Open the Instagram Edits app and start a new project.
Select the video you want to edit.
At the bottom of the screen, tap on the Restyle icon.
Choose the ‘Diwali’ category from the available themes.
Select your preferred festive effect: Lanterns, Marigolds
and Rangoli.
The AI will automatically apply the style to your video.
Once ready, export the video and share it on Instagram or other platforms.
These cultural influences will be accessible for about two weeks, concluding on October 29th. The rollout includes India and extends to other nations such as the United States, Canada, Singapore, and Australia.
Additionally, Ray-Ban Meta glasses users can quickly add Diwali-themed effects, such as rangoli and lights, to their photos by simply using a voice command. After snapping a picture with their glasses, they can say, 'Hey Meta, Restyle This,' to transform the image into a festive version, which can then be seen on the Meta AI app.
