Apple's iPhone 18 Pro is months away from an official announcement, but leaks from supply chain sources and industry analysts have already outlined the major changes expected in this year's flagship lineup.
No major redesign is expected for the iPhone 18 Pro. Apple is reportedly reusing the same physical moulds from the iPhone 17 Pro series, with the primary front-facing change being a smaller Dynamic Island. This reduction is made possible by partial under-display Face ID components, which move some of the sensor hardware beneath the display.
On colour options, multiple leakers point to a dark burgundy or deep cherry finish as the new signature colour for 2026, with the shade leaning closer to a dark cherry with a purple tinge. The current black option may not return. Light blue, dark grey, and silver are also expected.
The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to be powered by Apple's A20 Pro chip, built on TSMC's 2nm manufacturing process. The chip is projected to deliver around 15% faster performance and up to 30% better power efficiency compared to the A19 Pro in the current iPhone 17 Pro. RAM is reported at 12GB, with the additional capacity aimed at supporting expanded Apple Intelligence features.
The headline camera upgrade is a 48MP primary sensor with a variable aperture system ranging from f/1.4 to f/2.4, a first for any iPhone. The feature allows physical adjustment of how much light enters the lens, previously limited to dedicated cameras. Ultra-wide and periscope telephoto lenses are also expected at 48MP.
The Pro Max variant is expected to carry a battery above 5,100mAh, the largest Apple has reportedly ever placed in an iPhone.
Despite rising 2nm chip costs, analysts expect Apple to keep iPhone 18 Pro pricing largely unchanged. In India, the iPhone 18 Pro Max could start around ₹1,49,900, while the standard Pro may begin near ₹1,34,900, though higher storage models may cost more.
Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 18 Pro lineup in September 2026 alongside its first foldable iPhone, while the standard iPhone 18 may arrive in early 2027.
Apple has not confirmed any of the above details. All specifications, pricing, and timelines are based on pre-launch leaks and analyst reports.
