Remember how Labubu took the internet by storm in 2025, sparking a massive craze? Well, if you thought that was the peak of internet fads, think again. 2026 has brought with it an adorable new obsession and it goes by the name of Mirumi. If you’ve been scrolling through your social feeds, you’ve probably spotted this adorable, furry bot, a near-perfect sloth bear replica hanging off bags.
Created by Tokyo-based Yukai Engineering, Mirumi is more than just another cute accessory; it’s a hyperrealistic charm robot that’s making waves on social media for its uncanny resemblance to a sloth bear.
Unlike Labubu, Mirumi isn’t just a plush toy to hang on your bag, it’s a “charm robot,” designed to mimic the joy of interacting with a human baby. What’s so striking about it is that the toy’s head tilts, making it appear as though the robot is looking at you. It’s not creepy in the slightest — just irresistibly cute.
What is Mirumi: Japan's Viral Bot Accessory
Mirumi is a charm bot created by Yukai Engineering, a robotics company based in Tokyo, Japan. Inspired by Yokai, the playful spirit from Japanese folklore, Mirumi was first unveiled as a prototype at Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2025). It is now available for preordering on Kickstarter, with orders going live on January 21, 2026.
Pronounced "mai-a-mee," this interactive charm robot is set to capture hearts and redefine cute-tech in the coming year. The design is nothing short of brilliant, combining robotics with plush aesthetics in a way that makes Mirumi both cute and interactive. Available in three irresistibly cute colors: pink, beige, and grey.
"Mirumi is designed to evoke those tender feelings through its subtle and adorable gestures, delighting you and creating moments for others to share in. We are very excited to bring this happiness ambassador to Kickstarter, so people around the world can experience the charm," said Shunsuke Aoki, Yukai Engineering CEO.
What Makes Mirumi So Special
Mirumi attaches to bags or clothes, much like a sloth bear, bringing cuteness to your everyday accessories.
Unlike regular plush toys, Mirumi responds to its surroundings, offering interactive features that make it stand out.
It tilts its head and moves up and down, bringing it to life in a way most toys can’t.
When patted or touched on its hands, Mirumi nods, reacting to affection like many animals do.
Its cuteness has already made Mirumi a social media sensation, with fans sharing its adorable antics everywhere.
Lora, a Romania-based actor and songwriter, called it her "new best friend" and her "anti-stress medicine" in a video on Instagram. On Mirumi’s official Instagram, users are raving about the bot, with one commenting, "OMG! I need this baby." Another wrote, "Having a little buddy like this instead of an app would make self-care feel like a treat!" While it’s unclear when Mirumi will arrive in India, the world is already obsessed with this furry, interactive accessory.
