OnePlus unveiled its OnePlus 9 Series globally on Tuesday, March 23, in a digital-only event. With India being OnePlus' biggest smartphone market, the much-awaited launch had users anticipating with bated breath.
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the company had earlier unveiled its forerunner phone, the OnePlus 8, in a similar set up in 2020. Despite the rumours and leaks online, the unveiling left fans thrilled about the event.
The event commenced with CEO Pete Lau addressing the audience and briefing them to the Hassleblad partnership that the tech company will be entering with its ninth flagship phone. "OnePlus 9 series features our biggest leap forward in terms of camera quality," he was quoted saying during the launch.
Camera:
Keeping the benchmark for camera quality high, the OnePlus 9 Pro camera features a 50MP ultra-wide sensor 16MP selfie-camera and 48MP primary camera. The device can support 8K videos at 30 FPS and 4K at 120 FPS. It has also introduced DOL-HDR and Nightscape video 2.0.
The devices in this series also lets users click macro shots from as close as 4cm.
Design:
The OnePlus 9 Pro features a 2.2 mm thin aluminium frame and will be available in three colours: Morning Mist, Pine Green & Stellar Black.
Processor:
OnePlus 9 Pro is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G chipset and this time the device comes with CoolPlay heat dissipation system.
Display:
OnePlus 9 Pro features Fluid Display 2.0 with 120 Hz refresh rate. The display supports OnePlus' new HyperTouch technology, which will reportedly help cut down the response time when compared with the previous generation's display.
Battery:
OnePlus 9 Pro comes with 4,500 mAh battery with Warp Charge 65T. With the novel charging technology, the device can be boosted from zero to 65 percent in less than 15 minutes, and 100 per cent in barely 29 minutes. OnePlus 9 Pro also supports 50W wireless charging. The phone can charge wirelessly both vertically and horizontally.
Camera:
The OnePlus 9 features a Hassleblad camera, and 48MP primary camera, 50MP ultra-wide camera and support for 8K at 30 FPS videos.
Design:
The only notable difference between the OnePlus 9 Pro and the OnePlus 9 is that the latter sports a triple camera setup at the back.
Processor: Like the OnePlus 9 Pro, this device is powered by Snapdragon 888 SoC (System on Chip)., and a 120 Hz refresh rate display.
Display:
OnePlus 9, like the OnePlus 9 Pro, also features 120 Hz display.
Battery:
The device, too, has 4,500 mAh battery that comes with with 65T Warp Charge.
Price:
The OnePlus 9 series will be available for purchase at INR 49,999 across India.
OnePlus unveiled its first ever smartwatch on its series and comes in 46 mm, with two colours: Moonlight Silver and Midnight Black. The watch comes with a 1.39 inch AMOLED display and 326 ppi resolution.
