#TechPredictions: Xiaomi patents foldable smartphone after Samsung, Apple; to be part of the Mi MIX series

The smartphone maker has also filed the design patent for an inward bending phone in China.

Not long after announcing their venture into the EV market, Chinese tech company Xiaomi recently patented a new foldable smartphone, which will be part of the Mi MIX series.

According to GizmoChina, the patent was recognised on the QCC app and is allegedly scheduled to be the Mi MIX 4 Pro Max or the Mi MIX Fold.

The report also revealed that the smartphone could follow suit with Huawei's Mate Xs design and have an 'outward folding mechanism.

The foldable device is expected to feature dual displays and will a flagship-grade Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor. All this will be paired with a 7-inch folding display with a high refresh rate of 120Hz.

On the back, the primary camera sensor will be a 108MP shooter.

Under the hood, a large 5,000mAh battery pack will reportedly power the device, which will also support 67W fast charging.

Not long ago, Xiaomi had filed a patent for a foldable smartphone with a quad-camera system that rotates forward for selfies and back for regular photos.

The smartphone maker has also filed the design patent for an inward bending phone in China by putting 48 images that will showcase the handset.
