The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced the launch of a FASTag-based annual pass priced at just ₹3,000. Effective from August 15, 2025, this innovative pass will allow users up to 200 toll plaza trips per year, revolutionizing the way frequent travelers experience India’s national highways.
The new annual pass is designed with regular commuters in mind—think daily office-goers, logistics operators, and families who frequently traverse the same routes. By offering up to 200 toll transactions for a flat fee, NHAI aims to provide significant savings and convenience compared to the traditional pay-per-trip model.
Users can buy the annual pass via the official NHAI FASTag portal, authorized banks, or partner apps. The pass is digitally linked to your existing FASTag, ensuring seamless toll deduction. Each time you cross a toll plaza, one trip is deducted from your annual quota—no need for cash or manual intervention. The FASTag app and website allow you to monitor your remaining trips and renewal dates in real time.
India’s highways have seen a surge in traffic post-pandemic, with more people relying on personal and commercial vehicles for travel
The announcement has been welcomed by both industry experts and the general public. Logistics firms see it as a step toward greater operational efficiency, while daily commuters praise the simplicity and transparency of the new system.
Ravi Kumar, a logistics manager in Delhi, says, “This pass will help us plan our costs better and reduce the administrative hassle of managing multiple toll receipts.”
