Ola has officially launched its zero-commission model across India, allowing more than one million driver-partners to retain 100% of their fare earnings. The initiative, now live for autos, bikes, and cabs nationwide, eliminates commission deductions and offers drivers unlimited earning potential—a first for the Indian mobility sector.
Under this new structure, drivers can choose their preferred plan and keep the entire fare from every ride, with no deductions or limitations on the number of rides or total income. To access the zero-commission benefit, drivers pay a fixed subscription fee—currently set at ₹2,010 per month (about ₹67 per day)—after which they keep all fare earnings, regardless of ride volume or vehicle type.
This phased rollout began with Ola Autos, expanded to Ola Bikes, and now includes Ola Cabs, making Ola the first and only ride-hailing platform in India to implement a 0% commission model across all service categories.
Ola’s leadership has emphasized that drivers are the backbone of the mobility ecosystem. By removing commissions, the company aims to empower its driver-partners with true ownership over their work and income. “Giving them complete control of their earnings will help create a more resilient and sustainable ride-hailing network across the country,” an Ola spokesperson said.
The new model not only offers financial empowerment but also provides drivers the flexibility to choose their own plans and maximize their earnings without traditional platform-imposed limits.
Ola’s zero-commission strategy marks a significant departure from the standard commission-based business model that has dominated the ride-hailing industry for years. Traditionally, platforms would deduct a percentage—often 20% or more—from each ride’s fare as commission, impacting driver take-home pay and job satisfaction.
By adopting a subscription-based model, Ola is aligning itself with global trends and responding to growing calls for fairer gig economy practices. The move is expected to attract new drivers to the platform, reduce attrition, and foster a more loyal and motivated workforce.
Ola has reaffirmed its commitment to passenger safety and service quality. The company continues to enforce stringent safety protocols, including comprehensive driver background checks, strict vehicle quality standards, and in-app emergency features to ensure a secure and reliable ride experience for all users.
Ola’s zero-commission model is likely to set a new benchmark for the industry, prompting competitors to reassess their own commission structures. For drivers, the change means greater financial stability, autonomy, and the potential for unlimited earnings. For passengers, it could translate to improved service quality as drivers become more invested in their work.
