Speaking at the GPU Technology Conference (GTC) 2026, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang described OpenClaw as the “next ChatGPT,” pointing to its rapid growth as an autonomous AI platform. Unlike traditional chatbots, OpenClaw is designed to function independently, carrying out tasks without constant human input.
Developed by Peter Steinberger, the open-source tool can operate round the clock, handling activities such as monitoring systems and responding to emails. Huang noted that OpenClaw aims to deliver a more comprehensive AI experience, going beyond basic conversational capabilities.
“It is now the largest and most successful open-source project in history. This is definitely the next ChatGPT,” he said.
On concerns about job losses, Huang pushed back, arguing that AI will augment rather than replace human workers. He said such technologies can help address labour shortages while improving efficiency and productivity across industries.
Nvidia also unveiled NemoClaw, a toolkit that adds privacy and security controls to OpenClaw, allowing businesses to safely build and deploy autonomous AI agents.
