The anticipation is over as Samsung has officially started distributing its Android 16-based One UI 8 skin to Galaxy S25 series users. The Galaxy S25 series is now receiving the Android 16-based One UI 8 OS update.
This has been confirmed by a community manager from the tech giant, who mentioned that the beta program has concluded in South Korea, and participants are now receiving a new firmware update for the global stable version of One UI 8.
Although the Korean tech giant has been releasing various beta versions of its latest software, the stable version was previously only available on a few devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, and the newly launched Galaxy S25 FE. The initial update for the Galaxy S25 series has started rolling out.
The update is being rolled out to these users with the firmware version S93xNKSU5BYI3. As per the report, the download size for the Galaxy S25 Ultra is 555.45MB. The update has initially been released to users in South Korea, but it is expected to become available to all Galaxy S25 users worldwide, including those in India.
OneUI 8 utilizes Google Gemini to introduce a context-aware AI, minimizing the need to switch apps by automatically executing tasks based on user activity. It adapts to your daily routines to offer suggestions, reminders, or shortcuts that align with your habits. Samsung is also extending AI features initially available on Galaxy devices, such as Generative Edits and Chat Assist, to older Samsung models.
The update also introduces a new split-screen feature, akin to Open Canvas on OnePlus devices. Unlike the traditional split screen that divides the display equally, this new mode allows users to drag an app to the screen's edge, making it mostly hidden and freeing up space for the primary app to be the main focus.
Here's how you can check for the update and ensure a smooth installation process:
When the update becomes available for your device, you'll receive a notification prompting you to download and install it.
You can also manually check by navigating to:
Settings → Software Update → Download and Install (if available).
Once the update is downloaded, your Galaxy device will restart automatically to complete the installation.
Before updating, it’s highly recommended to back up your data to either the cloud or a physical storage device.
