Along the successful run of its XR ecosystem expansion, Samsung is now looking to enter the AI smart eyewear market with its upcoming Galaxy Glasses. The device is reportedly set to debut later this year as the company’s second Android XR product. With this move, Samsung is positioning the Galaxy Glasses as a rival to products such as the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses.
The leak appears to have originated from a routine software update rather than an official announcement. An update to Samsung’s “Nearby Device Scanning” app, part of the One UI system on Galaxy devices, quietly added references to a new category called “Glasses.” The changelog also mentioned features like Quick Pair support and battery status tracking, which are already used for Galaxy Buds and Galaxy Watch devices.
These small additions effectively confirmed that Samsung is preparing a new wearable product. Combined with earlier fashion eyewear partnerships and leaked design details, the update helped validate that the Galaxy Glasses are real and nearing launch.
Developed in partnership with Google and fashion-tech brands like Warby Parker and Gentle Monster, the glasses are said to come in two versions. The “Jinju” model may launch first without a display, while the higher-end “Haean” version could feature a micro-LED display.
Both variants are expected to run on Android XR with Google’s Gemini AI, enabling features such as real-time translation, navigation, photo capture, and voice assistance. The design is also said to resemble regular eyewear, focusing on everyday use.

Leaked renders suggest Samsung’s Galaxy Glasses will resemble Ray-Ban-style sunglasses with a normal eyewear look. They may include a 12MP camera, microphones, speakers, touch controls, and photochromic lenses, but no display. The device is expected to run Android XR with Gemini AI for hands-free photos, music, and voice commands.
Samsung is likely to unveil the glasses at its Galaxy Unpacked event in July 2026, alongside foldable devices. The product will compete with Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses, while leveraging Samsung’s Galaxy ecosystem and Google’s AI integration.
