Mexico: 11 killed as armed assailants open fire at bar

As many as 11 people were killed after armed assailants opened fire in a bar located at Mexico's central state of Guanajuato. The bodies were found at a bar near Jaral del Progreso town, state prosecutors said on Monday. The area is near the border with Michoacan state, which has been a point of invasion for the Jalisco cartel, which wants to move into Guanajuato. General

The Guanajuato has been the most forceful state in Mexico past few years but authorities had hoped the custody of a leader of a local gang in August, would help stalk the violence. This year between January and May, over 1,900 homicides were registered, more than in other Mexican towns exaggerated by organised crime, according to government figures.

As per the reports from local media, the four dead women killed by gunmen may have been employed at the bar. There was no instant information on a possible motive in the attack. A further investigation is underway.
