Ather Energy launches electric scooter

PUNE: Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ather Energy launched its new Ather 450X in Pune on Friday. The price is between Rs 1.49 lakh and Rs 1.59 lakh.

The scooter has been launched with a monthly subscription plan, in which, if a customer chooses the subscription, then the customer will first have to invest Rs 99,000.

Pune will see the installation of fast charging infrastructure in the coming months, followed by the delivery of the scooters.

“The consumer interest here has been phenomenal. We believe it will be one of the key markets leading in the adoption of EVs and we are delighted to enter it with the Ather 450X. As we have done in other markets, we will set up Ather Grid, our public charging infrastructure before we start delivering the scooters, We are already in talks with leading malls, coffee shops, tech parks and eateries to set up these charging stations,” said Chief Business Officer Ravneet Phokela. 

In the new Ather 450X, the company has given a total of four driving modes -- Eco, Ride, Sport and Warp. The scooter comes with a driving range of up to 85 km in a single charge. The battery charges up to 80 per cent in just 3 hours and 100 per cent in about 5 to 6 hours.

The feature-loaded scooter comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system which can be connected to smartphones. Features like 4G e-SIM, Android support, Voice Assistance Welcome Light, Bluetooth connectivity, vehicle state tracking and live location have also been included.
