ST Staff

Despite the on-going protests and calls to boycott Chinese products, China based smart-phone production company, Realme has announced its venture of the smart speaker market in India. Realme is all set to release its product in the Indian market while facing stiff competition from other brands like Amazon, Google Inc, Lenovo and Apple.

Madhav Sheth, the CEO of Realme India said, "We will soon introduce more cool products in our smart speaker category, along with stylish smart-watches and high-end TVs and smarter headphones." He further mentioned about '1+4+N,' which is a strategic change adopted by the company. He also said that the company will be increasing the number of employees in India after the launch of its new strategy to 10,000 by the end of this year.

The company also plans on expanding distribution channels to tier-4 and 5 cities, by hiring 5,000 sales team members.

This new strategy will cover the company's Internet of Things (IoT) enabled products, phones and much more. The "1" in the name of the strategy refers to '1 core,' which serves the smart-phone business and market. Seth also said that smart-phones have been the basis of Realme produced devices and the 'core' of its product portfolio. It will continue to 'be the main centre' of its Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) ecosystem.

The second part of this strategy, "4" is about "four smart hubs" or four categorical divisions including smart TV, smart watch, smart earphones and smart speaker. Realme is already in the market of smart TV in India, and also sells smart watches known as 'Realme Watch.'

The third and final part of the strategy, "N" stands for other products that Realme plans on launching. These peripheral products include both AIoT and lifestyle products like luggage cases, backpacks, smart home gadgets, in-car chargers, etc.

"In fact, along with our Realme X3 series (set for launch on June 25), we are launching our multi-function travel backpack, Realme Adventurer Backpack, for the very first time," said the CEO.
