Mahindra XUV300 BS6 petrol launched

ST CORRESPONDENT

PUNE: Mahindra XUV300 has become the first vehicle from the stable of an Indian automobile manufacturer to comply with the upcoming BS6 emission norms.

The XUV300 BS6 from the company will be available on all its 1.2-litre turbo petrol offerings. The Mahindra XUV300 W4 BS6 starts at Rs 8.30 lakh, ranging up to Rs 11.84 lakh ex-showroom.

This will be regarded as a significant step in the auto-sector for BS-6 emission changes. Mahindra can then bring in the XUV500 with the BS-6 engine which has also been seen testing on the same platform. Currently, the company is also working on its new generation model.

Mahindra also offers the XUV300 with a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine. This engine is offered in  manual and automatic gearbox options. However, the motor is yet to be upgraded to BS6 standard. Mahindra has stated that it is upgrading their models in a phased manner.

KEY FEATURES AND COLOUR VARIANTS
Mahindra XUV300, which shares its platform with SsangYong Tivoli, comes in four variants - W4, W6, W8 and W8(O). It has features like projector headlamps with LED DRLs, diamond-cut alloy wheels, heated ORVMs, dual-zone FATC, 17.78 cm touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, electric sunroof, seven airbags, disc brakes on all wheels, front parking sensors and ESP with roll-over mitigation.

There are six monotone colour options available with the compact SUV - Pearl White, D-Sat Silver, Red Rage, Aquamarine, Napoli Black and Sunburst Orange. The dual-tone choices include Red Rage with White Roof and Aquamarine with White Roof.

MARKET RIVALS
The Mahindra XUV300 continues with its rivalry against the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The price of the BS-6 spec XUV300 hasn’t gone up by a huge margin and that will speak well in terms of volumes of the car. Expect Mahindra to launch more BS6 compliant iterations of its models in the coming months.
