Monalisa who will be seen in Sab TV's Chidiyaghar says that her life has changed post her stint on Bigg Boss

Bhojpuri actress Monalisa has been signed on by the makers of Sab TV’s Chidiyaghar to play the character of Mayuri. The television show, which recently took eight years leap, will now see the actress in a different avatar. She says that she found the character of Mayuri exciting and attractive. “I have this image of someone who loves dancing and full of life and Mayuri is exactly that. This character is very close to the real me,” says the actress in midst of shooting.

The five-year-old show is one of the popular shows on television and Monalisa says that this factor prompted her to sign it. “Earlier I didn’t have time for serials, but now I do. So when I was offered the role, I found it perfect,” she says.

The former Bigg Boss contestant will play a mother to 18 year-old daughter. While most actresses leave a show because they do not want to play mother to grown-up children, Monalisa has done just the opposite. “That’s because I have no problem playing the role of a  mother. The way I will be portrayed in the show, I won’t look like a mother to an 18-year-old. I am playing this bubbly and fun person,” she says.

After working in more than a hundred Bhojpuri films, Monalisa has shifted her focus toHindi shows. After Bigg Boss, she participated in dance reality show Nach Baliye with her actor husband Vikrant Singh Rajput. “Since I am part of the entertainment industry, I have never said ‘no’ to work. I have worked in small-budgeted Hindi films before shifting base to Bhojpuri industry. I have also worked in South, Bengali and Oriya films,” says the actress, who is also reading Hindi film scripts.

“After participating in Bigg Boss, my life took a different turn. I am getting a lot of other interesting offers as the show reaches a large number of households and more people know me. I want to continue doing such exciting work,” adds the actress, who is also part of Comedy Dangal on &TV.

Ask about Bharti Singh, who is one of judges on Comedy Dangal and she replies, “She is one of the co-contestants on Nach Baliye. She’s mad and a fun person, but I was scared to perform in front of her because she’s a brilliant comedian,” says Monalisa, who got a standing ovation for one of her acts on the show.

She also got married to her long time boyfriend Vikrant on the reality show Bigg Boss in January. Talking about how married life is treating her, she says, “We just celebrated our seven-month anniversary. It is an awesome feeling to be married.”
