June 25 to be remembered as Bourdain Day

Sakal Times

To celebrate the late American chef, author, travel documentarian and Parts Unknown host — the late Anthony Bourdain — on his birthday, Ripert and Andrés are encouraging people to share memories of Bourdain using the hashtag #BourdainDay.

Eric Ripert and José Andrés, both world-famous chefs and longtime pals of Bourdain, posted a video on Twitter announcing that June 25 would be Bourdain Day — a day commemorating their late friend on what would have been his birthday. The hashtag began trending shortly after Andrés and Ripert’s initial announcement, but it’s likely to go viral on June 25 when fans all over the world begin celebrating the inimitable Bourdain. They encouraged fans and friends of Bourdain, who died on June 8, 2018, to post their favourite memories of him and to celebrate his legacy.

“June is a very important month,” said Ripert, adding, “On June 25, we are all going to celebrate the birthday of our dear friend and beloved Anthony Bourdain.” Andrés then translated Ripert’s remarks into Spanish.

Bourdain was 61 when he committed suicide last year while filming his CNN series Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown in France.

On Tuesday, CNN’s Anthony Bourdain Remembered, a collection of images and quotes celebrating the life and memory of Bourdain, went on sale.
