Richa Chadha meets the real Shakeela ahead of the film’s shoot

Sakal Times

Several biopics are currently under production. Recently it was announced that a biopic is being made on the life of adult film star from the south — Shakeela Khan. Richa Chadha is playing the title role of the south cinema’s legendary name.

Richa is all geared up to play Shakeela and as part of her preparation, the actress met the adult film star.

“Richa recently met Shakeela in Bangalore for the first time for an official meet and greet session. Both the real and reel Shakeela spent a great deal of time together and had a great time bonding and understanding each other. Shakeela shared anecdotes from her early days and her long career, giving the Fukrey actress all the details she would need to play the part to perfection,” says a source close to the actress.

Best known for her adult films, Shakeela became a rage overnight after her first mainstream film Playgirls in which she acted alongside Silk Smitha, released. She rose to stardom after Silk Smitha, grabbing every producer and director’s attention in the Southern film industries and also becoming the first female actor in Malayalam cinema to gain such popularity back when it was a largely male dominated business.

The film is being currently shot in Thirthahalli, a small village in Karnataka. Directed by Indrajit Lankesh, it is slated to release in 2019.
