Welcoming the spring

Sakal Times

City-based Bangiya Sanskriti Samsad celebrated ‘Basanta Utsav 2019’ at Empress Garden on Sunday morning. This traditional programme is based on songs collected from the ocean of Rabindrasangeet and supported by a script and a dance choreographed especially to catch the mood of a Spring morning. The participants (singers, dancers, script readers) were from all over Pune.

Guest artists Saswati Guhathakurta (first Doordarshan Bangla announcer and an actress) and Shreya Guha Thakurta presented Tumi Mata Tumi Kanya, supported by renowned musicians duo Subroto Mukherjee (keyboard) and Biplab Mandol (tabla / khol) from Kolkata.

Basanta Utsav finds its roots at the birth place of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore at Santiniketan.
