‘Divorced ex wants me to cancel my wedding’

Sakal Times

My ex-girlfriend recently got divorced after being married for three years. Since she was in town, she asked me if I was available to meet which I agreed to. After meeting her and informing her that I would be getting married soon, she cut me off and asked if I would end my marriage for her.

I see how you’re’ so stressed about having to be the stud that women just want to snatch away from other women. But let me put your worries to rest here pal. This ex of yours just got out of a bad marriage and now the reflex to stabilise her emotionally is to go on a rebound. And who better to rebound with than an old flame?

The thing about exes is that they are better left alone. You know, like that ponytailed Barbie doll puts it so eloquently in her song Thank You, Next. Your ex is your ex for a reason, sit down and recall what it was and just let the resentment take over. And believe me, you’ll be doing your ex a favour by staying away from her. She needs some time to be by herself and figure out, well, life. No matter how feminist we get, there’s still a little voice in our heads telling us that we need a man, thanks to centuries of social conditioning. But what she really needs is some time to herself to find out if you’re the man she really wants to spend her life with, or that she wants you now just because she’s lonely. But life is not as short as you millennials make it out to be — it is long, so you have to be careful when picking your partner.

As for you pretty boy, if you’re happy with your present relationship, why are you  tormented about what to do? Was your decision to marry this new girl based on a flimsy ground that if you’re ex comes back, you will run back to her? And don’t you say the old lover is messing with your head. Even if she is, you’re an adult. Don’t blame your lack of spine on anyone else. Select the woman you love, whether you’re really worthy of any of them is a whole new conversation.
