‘Widow of Silence’ is selected at International Film Festival Rotterdam in Voice Section

Director Praveen Morchhale’s Widow of Silence is selected at International Film Festival Rotterdam, 2019 (Jan 23-Feb 3) in ‘Voice Section’.

“The films that are presented in Voices are driven by their powerful stories, their distinct characters, their captivating subjects and important themes. Each film brings a distinct viewpoint on the world we live in,” said Morchhale in a confident voice.

Widow of Silence had a world premiere at Busan International Film Festival in Oct 2018 in ‘A Window on Asian Cinema’ section. In Novemeber, it won the best Film Award (Indian Film Competition) at Kolkata International Film Festival. In December, the film was in the International competition section at International film Festival of Kerala. Morchhale was nominated at Busan International Film Festival 2018 for the Kim Jiseok Awards. Sharing his thoughts on Widow of Silence being selected for International Film Festival, he said,”I am so happy that a film on painful situations of half widows in Kashmir and their struggle to have a dignified life in society, has been invited to one of the world’s most reputed festivals, International Film Festival Rotterdam.”
