Prabhas sparks speculation with Alpha post

Prabhas posted the Alpha trailer on his Instagram Stories, praising it and writing, “The Alpha trailer looks amazing and promising… wishing all the best to Alia, YRF and the entire team for July 3.” Alia shared his post on her own story and responded, “Thank you thank you so much (sun emoji).” In several interviews, Prabhas has expressed his desire to collaborate with Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt in the future. He also described Alia as a ‘better actress’ than Deepika during a rapid-fire segment on Koffee With Karan.

What we know about the Kalki 2898 AD sequel

Following Deepika’s departure from the project, several actors were rumoured to be in the running to replace her in the sequel, with Sai Pallavi emerging as a leading candidate. A source told TBC in February, “Nothing has been confirmed yet. But yes, the makers are considering Sai to play SUM-80 after Deepika’s exit. They believe she would be an ideal choice for the role.” The source also dismissed speculation that Sai has already been signed by Nag and that filming is set to restart soon. “These are merely rumours, as no decision has been finalised so far. Please wait for an official announcement,” they said.

In mid-June, rumours began circulating that Alia had been signed for a new role in Kalki 2898 AD. When asked to address reports that she had filmed scenes for the movie, a spokesperson for the project told TBC, “No shooting,” dismissing claims that the actor had worked on the film. Pressed on whether she had been finalised for the sequel, the spokesperson said, “There’s no official clarity yet. Someone posted it on social media, and everyone else copied and pasted it as news. There’s definitely no clarity about her casting at this point.”

Alpha, the feature directorial debut of Shiv Rawail, is produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner. The film is a new installment in the YRF Spy Universe, following Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), War (2019), Pathaan (2023), Tiger 3 (2023), and War 2 (2025). The cast includes Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol. Alpha is scheduled for theatrical release on July 3.
