Pune: Veteran Marathi actor Shrikant Moghe passes away at 91

Pune: Veteran Marathi stage and film actor Shrikant Moghe passed away at his residence on Saturday in Pune. The 91-year-old was suffering from age-related ailments.

Born on November 6, 1929, at Kirloskarwadi of Sangli district in Maharashtra, he played in number of Marathi plays and movies such as Sinhasan released back in 1979. He was popular for his roles in Marathi movies such as Madhuchandra, Gammat Jammat, Umbaratha, Vasudev Balwant Phadke. Apart from films, he was also famous for his roles in Marathi stage plays. Varyavarchi Varaat, Tuze Aahe Tujapashi, and Lekure Udand Jali are some of his greats. During his acting career, he has been a part of over 50 movies and a number of plays.

Moghe is survived by his son Shantanu Moghe and daughter-in-law Priya Marathe.

Several leaders including Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, Leader of OppositionDevendra Fadnavis paid tributes to the legendary actor.
