Swara Bhasker ignited an online debate when a video showcasing her Iftaar preparations gained attention due to her use of a Nestle product. The video attracted criticism from social media users, pointing out that Nestlé is presently on boycott lists related to the Palestinian cause, as part of a larger movement encouraging people to steer clear of companies connected to Israel.
Swara expresses regret for utilizing Nestle products
In response to the criticism, Swara tackled the matter head-on in a subsequent video. She explained, “I shared a few stories about my Iftaar preparations, which is the only thing I know how to do, which is make food cream. Naturally, I reviewed some of your feedback and realized many of you highlighted that Nestle is on the boycott list due to its ties with Palestine and Zionism, and I was using Nestle milkmaid. Honestly, I didn't recall this, and it didn't occur to me.”
She also mentioned, "I strongly support BDS and make a significant effort to adhere to it, particularly when it comes to the personal products we use. However, I do find some aspects challenging. I'm still in the process of learning. I just wanted to express my gratitude for highlighting that, and I will strive to be as cautious as possible."
