Bollywood has, yet again, found itself in the middle of crossfire – government and farmers. A day after the American pop star Rihanna, Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg, and American-Lebanese actress Mia Khalifa tweeted in solidarity with the farmer protesting in the country against the three Farm Laws, B-town’s Suniel Shetty, Ajay Devgn, and Karan Johar too tweeted pushing governement's #IndiaTogether and #IndiaAgainstPropoganda.

Joining forces with the government, and encouraging their fans towards #IndiaTogether and #IndiaAgainstPropoganda - both used in an official government statement - the Tanhaji actor tweeted, “Don’t fall for any false propaganda against India or Indian policies. Its important to stand united at this hour w/o any infighting Folded hands #IndiaTogether #IndiaAgainstPropaganda (sic)”.

An official statement was shared by Anurag Srivastava, spokesperson, Ministry of External Affairs, on their website as well as on Twitter - that stated “Before rushing to comment on such matters, we would urge that the facts be ascertained, and a proper understanding of the issues at hand be undertaken. The temptation of sensationalist social media hashtags and comments, especially when resorted to by celebrities and others, is neither accurate nor responsible.”

The celebrities of India’s Tinsel town have since been facing backlash from the netizens who are now calling them #AntiNationalBollywood. While Bollywood is facing criticism, sportspersons like Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Anil Kumble and PT Usha are also being dragged into the same game.
