To ensure a smooth and safe track for cyclists, the district administration will remove 200 speed breakers and level 400 manhole chambers along the route. Roads will be resurfaced, footpaths repaired, and other improvements carried out at a total cost of ₹145.75 crore. The tender process for this project has already begun.

District officials explained that contractors must have a hot-mix plant within 35 kilometres of Pune and will be allowed to bid for only one tender each to ensure timely completion. All work is expected to finish by end of November 2025 to allow adequate preparation before the race.

After fresh asphalt is laid, the roads will remain closed to traffic for at least 12 hours to prevent damage and preserve quality. Officials said this step is crucial to maintaining a smooth surface for the cyclists. Contractors will also be required to deploy safety engineers and wardens during the work to manage traffic diversions and ensure public safety.

The Pune Grand Challenge Tour is being organized jointly by the District Administration and the Cycling Federation of India to promote international cycling and sports tourism in India.
