AFMC Pune Hosts Eighth Edition of Annual Marathon

Marathon featured range of categories - full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km, and 5km Fun Run, catering to participants of various fitness levels.

Pune: The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune successfully hosted the eighth edition of its annual marathon on August 11, 2024.

This year’s event saw an impressive turnout of over 4,500 runners, including service personnel, veterans, families, medical and nursing cadets, and civilians from across the nation.

The marathon featured a range of race categories, including the full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km, and a 5km Fun Run, catering to participants of various fitness levels and interests.

The event was officially launched by Lt Gen Sandeep Thareja, SM, VSM**, Director & Commandant of AFMC, who was joined by other senior officials. Maj Gen Giriraj Singh, Dean & Deputy Commandant of AFMC, presented the awards to the top performers.

Since its inception, the AFMC Pune Marathon has become a prominent fixture in the national marathon circuit, attracting runners of diverse backgrounds and ages.

The marathon not only promotes running as a sport but also fosters a sense of fitness and camaraderie among its participants. The continued success of the event highlights its role in advancing health and wellness within the community, reinforcing the growing culture of physical fitness in the region.
