Pune: Bill Gates, Chairman of the Gates Foundation and former Microsoft CEO, visited the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), Pusa Campus, New Delhi, where he interacted with three Drone Didis trained under the Namo Drone Didi Scheme by Hyderabad-based Marut Drones.

The visit featured a live demonstration of Marut AG365 drones, piloted by rural women, showcasing the role of drone technology in improving agricultural efficiency and enhancing rural livelihoods. The initiative is aimed at empowering women through technology while providing them with sustainable sources of income.

Prem Kumar Vislawath, CEO and Co-Founder of Marut Drones, expressed his pride in witnessing the trained women confidently demonstrate their drone-operating skills to Bill Gates.

“This moment is a testament to how technology is empowering women entrepreneurs, breaking barriers in male-dominated industries, and creating financial independence in rural India. The presence of global leaders like Bill Gates reaffirms the impact of drone technology at the grassroots level and its role in reshaping India’s rural economy,” said Vislawath.

Marut Drones, the first company in India to receive dual DGCA approval for manufacturing and remote pilot training, has been at the forefront of advancing India’s drone ecosystem. The company provided comprehensive training and refresher sessions for the three Drone Didis from Bihar, ensuring seamless execution during the demonstration.

By supporting government initiatives like the Namo Drone Didi Program, Marut Drones continues to drive innovation in agriculture, women’s empowerment, and rural entrepreneurship through cutting-edge drone technology.
