Pune: Panic ensued late Wednesday (October 16) night when an individual posted on social media claiming that bombs had been planted on three IndiGo flights.

The incident prompted immediate action by the police administration, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), airport authorities, and IndiGo. After an extensive inspection, the threat was confirmed to be a hoax, providing relief to the authorities involved.

The Pune police control room received a call around midnight on Wednesday about a bomb threat on an IndiGo flight traveling from Lucknow to Pune.

The threat was initially posted on social media, with the individual stating, "I have placed a bomb on the plane, and many people will die today." Approximately ten minutes before the scheduled landing of the flight at Pune Airport, the police were alerted. The plane was immediately diverted to an isolation bay for safety.

Emergency protocols were swiftly implemented, and the rescue team safely evacuated all passengers from the aircraft. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) was called in to conduct a thorough search of the plane. After a complete inspection, no explosive or suspicious object was found onboard, confirming the threat as false.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Himmat Jadhav stated that a case has been registered at the airport police station against the individual responsible for spreading the false information. Efforts are currently underway to identify and locate the suspect.

Authorities are urging the public to refrain from spreading such rumors, as they not only cause panic but also waste valuable resources and time.
