Pune: In a major breakthrough, Kondhwa Police arrested seven individuals for allegedly assaulting a 19-year-old youth with a machete in the Bopdev Ghat area. The suspects reportedly attacked the victim during a dispute near Trinity College on January 16, leaving him critically injured.
The incident occurred in the afternoon when an altercation broke out on the road in front of Trinity College. During the argument, the accused attacked Vishwajit Babaji Hulawale (resident of Yewalewadi) with a machete, causing severe injuries. Following the attack, the police registered a case of attempted murder and initiated an investigation.
During the probe, Constables Satish Chavan and Vishal Memane received a tip that one of the suspects, Raj Ronge, was hiding in a flat in Yewalewadi. Acting on this information, the police apprehended seven suspects.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
Bhavesh Balasaheb Kunjir (23, resident of Saswad)
Atharva Kailas Pawar (21, resident of B.T. Kawade Road, Ghorpadi)
Suraj Sachin Raut (21, resident of Yewalewadi)
Aryan Vilas Pawar (18, resident of Ghorpadi)
Saurabh Pradeep Londhe (18, resident of Dhankawadi)
Raj Digambar Ronge (19, resident of Yewalewadi)
Varun Baban Bhosale (21, resident of Jejuri, Purandar Taluka)
The police recovered four sharp weapons and vehicles worth ₹3.8 lakh from the accused. All seven have been remanded into police custody by the court.
This operation was led by Additional Police Commissioner Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Rajkumar Shinde, Assistant Commissioner Dnyankumar Godse, Senior Inspector Vinay Patankar, and Crime Police Inspector Abdul Rauf Sheikh.
The investigation team comprised Sub-Inspector Balaji Digole and Police Constables Amol Hirwe, Satish Chavan, Nilesh Desai, Vishal Memane, Gorakhnath Chinake, and personnel Santosh Bansode, Laxman Holkar, Shahid Sheikh, Suraj Shukla, Sagar Bhosale, Sujit Madan, and Rahul Thorat.
