On Tuesday, the Lok Sabha Speaker suspended eight Congress Members of Parliament due to the commotion in the lower House, which arose from the denial of permission for Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi to cite an unpublished 'memoir' by former army chief MM Naravane.
The Members of Parliament, including Hibi Eden, C Kiran Kumar Reddy, Gurjeet Singh Aujla, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, Manickam Tagore, Prashant Padole, and Dean Kuriakose, were suspended for reportedly tossing papers in the direction of the Chair.
The Lok Sabha session has been suspended for the day due to the commotion.
Led by Rahul Gandhi, Congress members of parliament demonstrated outside the Parliament in opposition to the suspensions.
Opposition Members of Parliament have been demonstrating against the Speaker's decision to prevent Rahul Gandhi from discussing an unpublished 'memoir' by former army chief MM Naravane, which contains politically sensitive remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
Gandhi verified the authenticity of an article earlier today that referenced Naravane's unpublished 'memoir' and stated, "This is crucial to our President's speech. I just want to comment on the events between China and India and our Prime Minister's response. Why am I being prevented from doing so?"
Krishna Prasad Tenneti, presiding over the House, requested him to present it and stated, "we will review it and respond."
Rahul Gandhi was prevented from continuing his speech, leading to demonstrations by Congress MPs.
