COVID-19 Vaccine: Mumbai ready for vaccine storage; check the detailed plan

During the first phase, 1.25 lakh healthcare workers will be vaccinated while the second phase will see people those from police services, conservancy workers getting vaccinated.

Mumbai: Mumbai's COVID-19 19 task force, led by the Additional Municipal Commissioner of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Suresh Kakani, has structured a blueprint for vaccine storage and distribution.

Kakani also made clear that Mumbai is ready to battle COVID-19. Also, 75 per cent of beds at Mumbai COVID Centre are vacant.

THE THREE PHASES

Mumbai has reported 1.25 lakh public and private healthcare providers.

During the first phase, 1.25 lakh healthcare workers will be vaccinated while the second phase will see people those from police services, conservancy workers getting vaccinated.

The third and the last phase will see people above 50 years of age and those with co-morbidities will be given the vaccine.

VACCINE STORAGE CENTRES

- Sion Hospital, Nair Hospital, KEM Hospital, Cooper Hospital amd more will gear up for the vaccine storage. These hospital can store over 10 lakh doses.

- Kanjurmarg Storage Centre can manage to store over 50 lakh doses.

-The plan of 50 such centres is drafted.

- The centre will work in two shifts.

The Centre recently had informed that the COVID-19 vaccine in India may get approval by January.

It had also asked the district administrations around the country to prepare for vaccination.
