Hadapsar Police Station: Theft suspect escapes custody, manhunt underway

Suspect identified as Govind alias Pintya Ghodke, was in police lockup for theft case. As soon as escape was noticed, police launched search operation.

Pune: In a dramatic turn of events, a theft suspect managed to escape from custody at Hadapsar Police Station, prompting an extensive search operation by the police.

The suspect, identified as Govind alias Pintya Ghodke, was in police lockup for a theft case.

The incident occurred on Saturday (June 22) afternoon around 1:30 PM when Ghodke was taken out of the lockup to have his fingerprints taken. Seizing the opportunity during a moment of police inattention, Ghodke fled the premises.

As soon as the escape was noticed, police launched a search in the bustling area surrounding Hadapsar Police Station. It is believed that Ghodke fled through a nearby parking area.

To capture the fugitive, police set up immediate checkpoints and have collected CCTV footage from the vicinity. Teams have been dispatched to track down the escaped suspect, intensifying the manhunt.
