New Delhi: On Monday, INDIA bloc leaders convened an important meeting at the Constitution Club in the national capital to craft a joint strategy against the ruling NDA government and to deliberate on several urgent national issues. The session saw participation from representatives of 23 opposition parties, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge stated that all participating parties had agreed on several matters related to the electoral process. He said the opposition alliance would soon send a letter to the Chief Justice of India outlining their concerns about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, alleged tampering with voter lists, and doubts regarding the fairness and transparency of the elections.
Kharge added that the opposition parties had unanimously resolved to call for the immediate resignation of the Union Education Minister. He claimed that millions of students have suffered due to controversies and irregularities associated with examinations like NEET and CBSE during the minister’s tenure.
The Congress president also called on the central government to hold an all-party meeting to deliberate on what he termed a deteriorating economic situation, increasing unemployment, inflation, farmers’ grievances, and other issues impacting the public.
As part of the drive to enhance coordination within the alliance, Kharge declared that the INDIA bloc parties will convene every two months. The upcoming meeting is slated to be held in Hyderabad in August.
He further disclosed that Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren joined virtually, and both voiced their backing for the alliance’s stance.
The bloc also resolved to sustain close coordination in Parliament during the forthcoming Monsoon Session, scheduling daily strategy meetings at Kharge’s office in the Rajya Sabha.Meanwhile, RJD leader and Bihar Assembly Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav stated that alliance partners had reached an agreement on five key issues and emphasized that the opposition would collectively highlight them in the upcoming months.
