On Tuesday, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal requested a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address issues related to E20 petrol, urging that both pure petrol and E20 petrol be offered at fuel stations, with ethanol-blended fuel priced more cheaply.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, Kejriwal stated that during his planned meeting he wished to outline the technical aspects of the issue and share the public feedback he had received regarding the matter. Kejriwal stated that consumers should be free to choose between pure petrol and E20 petrol at fuel stations.
He said that people who prefer pure petrol should have that option, and those who want E20 should also be able to choose it. Kejriwal stated that he had written to the prime minister after speaking with people and learning about their concerns over E20 petrol. The AAP chief also called for a cut in the price of E20 petrol, arguing that the blended fuel delivers lower mileage than standard petrol.
Kejriwal stated that the party has launched an online petition for citizens to share their experiences with E20 petrol and encouraged people to voice their concerns about mileage and other related issues, he added.
He urged people to sign the petition in large numbers and stated that all the responses gathered would be presented to the prime minister during their meeting. Kejriwal voiced optimism that Prime Minister Modi would grant him a meeting in the near future. The AAP leader also called on party workers and relevant stakeholders to go to petrol pumps and service stations, engage with customers, and post videos on social media platforms describing their experiences.
