Pune: Lonikand Police arrested a 28-year-old man who snatched a gold mangalsutra worth ₹40,000 from a woman in a ladies’ shop in Pimpri Sandas. The accused, Rohan Satish Jadhav, had entered the shop under the guise of purchasing a blouse piece and a ring but ended up committing the theft.
The incident took place on November 28 at Trishna Ladies Shop in Pimpri Sandas, where the victim, a 35-year-old woman, was attending to customers. Jadhav pretended to be a customer and asked to see various items. While the woman was showing him products, he suddenly approached her, snatched the mangalsutra from her neck, and fled.
Assistant Police Inspector Ravindra Godse and his team reviewed 80 to 100 CCTV camera footages from Pimpri Sandas, Koregaon Bhima, Lonikand, Wagholi, Awhalwadi, Manjri, Hadapsar, Fursungi, Magarpatta, Ghorpadi, Kalyaninagar, and Yerwada. Based on the suspect’s description in the footage and intelligence gathered from informants, police apprehended Rohan Jadhav at Commerce Zone, Yerawada, along with his motorcycle.
During interrogation, Jadhav admitted to the theft. Police recovered stolen property worth ₹1.78 lakh from him.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjankumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioners of Police Himmat Jadhav and Pranjali Sonawane.
The team included Senior Police Inspector Sarjerao Kumbhar, Assistant Police Inspector Ravindra Godse, and constables Sagar Jagtap, Kailas Salunke, Ajit Farande, Pandurang Mane, Malhari Supare, Sainath Rokde, Amol Dhone, Shubham Chinke, and Sudhir Shivle.
