ATS investigating at 5 cities in State

Pune: Officials of the state Anti-Terrorism Squad are investigating in Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur, Solapur and Aurangabad to find links in the recent recovery case of huge cache of explosives, including live crude bombs and gelatin sticks which led to arrest of three persons from Mumbai and Pune. 

The arrested accused were identified as Vaibhav Raut (40), Sudhanwa Gondhalekar (39) and Sharad Kalaskar (25). 

While officials of the ATS have arrested the accused for possession of arms and ammunition, officials suspect the accused were planning a terror attack as the seized materials included 11 country-made pistols with magazines, 10 pistol barrels, an air gun, six partially made pistol bodies, 20 crude bombs and other explosive materials. The accused are currently in police custody and the police are trying to find out the financial sources of the accused. 

While Vaibhav hails from Mumbai, Gondhalekar is from Satara and Sharad from Aurangabad. As the accused are from different parts of the state, the police are yet to find out the locations where the accused were allegedly planning their terror plot.
