Cong MLA Nirmala Gavit set to join Shiv Sena on Tuesday

Mumbai: Congress MLA Nirmala Gavit is set to join the ruling Shiv Sena on Tuesday, according to a close aide. 

Gavit, daughter of veteran Congress parliamentarian Manikrao Gavit, has been representing Igatpuri Assembly segment in Nashik district for over a decade. 

She will meet Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray at his residence here on Tuesday and officially join the party, the aide said, adding that "in the changed scenario, Nirmala Gavit has decided to join the Sena and continue to work for the people". 

Her father Manikrao represented Nandurbar Lok Sabha seat for nine consecutive terms between 1980 and 2014.
