Delay in result of Asst Motor Vehicle Inspector exam irks MPSC aspirants

Sakal Times

Pune: Around 8,000 students across the State who answered MPSC exam for the post of Assistant Inspector of Motor Vehicle in August 2017 are agitated as they are still awaiting their results, six months after the examination. While the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) usually declares the results of its other exams within two to three months, this time, the students are irked due to the delay in the results.

“As we are students from a technical background, we can answer only a few examinations under MPSC. Because of delay in results, we cannot prepare for any other examination, nor is the commission giving us any answers about the date of results,” Vishal Thorat, one of the candidates, said.

The delay in the results has been caused due to the petitions filed against the recruitment process in the court. However, responding to a public interest litigation by Shrikant Karve, the high court, on February 18, 2016, had directed to start the recruitment process for the post of Assistant Inspector of Motor Vehicle within six months. However, around two years later, the recruitment process has still not happened.

According to reports, around 50 per cent of the posts in Regional Transport Office are vacant, due to which the people are suffering. A large number of vehicle fitness tests in the State are pending. “The fate of the candidates who appeared for the examination is at stake. The students may be eligible for the posts but are unemployed. We hope the government clears the cases and declares the results soon,” Thorat said.
